Role Overview / Description

Reporting to the HR Team and the Head of Finance, this Payroll Officer will be responsible for the day to day processes and data entry of payments. On a monthly basis, you will be ensuring smooth payroll processing and the associated functions for all employees. As a Payroll Officer your focus will be on ensuring accuracy, efficiency and timeliness so that payments can be made as per the contracts of employment for all staff.

On a daily basis, by applying your practical and technical skills, your duties include calculating wages for timesheets, liaising with local tax offices and ensuring that government taxes and other statutory deductions are deducted in line with policy. This successful Payroll Officer will be diligent, hard-working and precise in all their work and will strive to provide the best results. The key success factor in this role is your ability to communicate effectively with the team and provide an accurate outcome in all your work.

The Job/ Duties / Responsibilities

You are a motivated and well organised Payroll Officer who is responsible for the following duties:

  • Preparation of Annual Returns for FBT, SPT, PAYG and Workers Compensation
  • Ensure the company meets its statutory obligations
  • Paying monthly salaries and weekly wages to employees and casual workers
  • Liaising with local tax offices
  • Administering expense claims by checking and verifying their validity, seeking authorization for payment
  • Calculating wages for timesheets or Time and Attendance Systems - e.g. Kronos
  • Prepare and maintain the annual payroll budget report
  • Prepare and post monthly payroll journal from payroll system to General Ledger

Candidate Profile

You are a hard-working and motivated Payroll Officer who has extensive experience in payroll processing. You will have strong knowledge of tax, super and other statutory regulations. Bring your Experience in Chris 21 as it is a must, along with your in-depth knowledge of Kronos and apply your skills effectively to the above systems. Outstanding engagement and communication skills are a must have as you will be engaging daily with internal and external stakeholders
